Return from South Africa!

Just returned from my 27th trip to South Africa. Feb. 11-26. The team was my son in law & grandson, Dale & Kent Bresee, and Austin McIlroy. First stop, Durban: City-wide seminar with church leaders of several churches. Topics: How to be a New Testament Church; Getting back to the Bible. Evangelism etc. Super cooperation, fellowship and praise together!
Then on to Capetown: Saturday seminar at Eastridge, Mitchell's Plain. Topic: "Surviving in Sodom & Gomorrah!" Dale & I spoke to the adults; Kent & Austin to the youth. Great attendance and cooperation. Ideas given on "Circling the Wagons" to fight off Satan's immoral attacks on our youth. I preached at Eastridge on Sunday; "Eternity in the Hearts of Men!" and "Dealing With the Problem of Sin!"

Roger Dickson is launching his campaign to put a "whole Bible & commentary"(which he has translated and done the commentary) in "every church in Africa!" The most major project in his life (and mine!). Finland is supplying the paper; China, the printing. Campaign will start soon to fund this awesome effort!

Back in Durban we will concentrate on getting a sea crate full of our dehydrated soup mix!
Wheels are in motion for that. Thanks to all contributors! You're the best! Dale & I returned home on Feb. 26; we left the "first team" (Kent & Austin) on the ground til Apr 28! Pray for them! Phi.1:3

"Love Anyway!"

I have a request from the sister of a deceased special friend of mine, Ken Knox.
She wants the poem "Love Anyway" I wrote and have used in my "Anyway Series"!
Glad to do it! Ken was a "down to earth, no nonsense gospel preacher"; always came to the Tulsa workshop every year. I was privileged to know him!

Love Anyway!
If you give yourself to love, you may get hurt; love anyway!
If you love people they may not love you back; love anyway!
If you open your heart to others, some will invade it and vandalize it!
Open your heart anyway!
If you allow yourself to love unconditionally, you may find that others
may love you with many conditions; love unconditionally anyway!
If you love your fellow man some may misunderstand;
Love your fellow man anyway.
If you love romantically you may get burned;
Love romantically anyway!
There are those who are dangerous to love.
There are those with whom you should not be in love.
Be a loving person anyway.
Love will bring many thorns and scars along the way.
Love will not be returned every time.
But love is the only path worth travelling.
Love brings ecstasies nothing else will.
So love.....love anyway!
Ask God's help to love often and well!
For it is better to have not lived...
Than to have not loved!

TRAVELS: "It's an age thing!" I've trimmed back my travels. I do my two trips to South Africa PLUS "Specials"; the latter can come back to bite my backside. I DID speak on two special events on "Unity and Fellowship"; one in Pittsburg, Pa. and the other in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada (WCC campus). Both celebrated the 200th year of Alexander Campbell's "Declaration and Address".

BIBLES FOR AFRICA: Money is coming in much slower due to the diminished travel schedule. We are in need of more funding; the goal being to get ONE MILLION Bibles distributed on the African continent. This month I sent the balance of 2009 gifts to the Park Plaza Church of Christ, Tulsa Okla. It amounted to $2,800.00+

DEHYDRATED SOUP MIX: Reported below. We've now put ONE MILLION servings in Africa.
Breedlove Foods recently wrote, "Thanks for your generous contributions of $15,228.03. Your gift provides 304,560 servings of soup to hungry Africans. ISN'T IT EXCITING TO BE A PART OF THIS MINISTRY?

GREAT NEWS ON THE SOUP MIX PROGRAM: Last September, while I was in Capetown, Crate #2 arrived (500,000 servings). It is being distributed currently into eleven Africa countries. While there, Malvin Kivedo and I met with Mark Anderson (Director of Center for International Health). We have hopes of putting together another crate for the Durban area (SE of Johannesburg) hopefully for later in 2010. I also sent Breedlove Dehydrated Foods enough money for Crate #3 for Capetown. This will be shipped later this year. God bless all you who have sent; and hopefully now I'll be able to report on a regular basis, especially on Bibles distributionand the dehydrated soup mix program. Keep sending, keep praying, and let's keep working together (2 Cor. 6:2)...

NEW APPEAL FOR "BIBLES FOR AFRICA"

THE APPEAL: "Marvin's Million" is a project to put ONE MILLION free Bibles into the hands of spiritually hungry Africans. All over Africa. I've been one of a few people stumping the country to find money to pay for the Bibles. A few years ago I was doing 30 trips a year; so everywhere I went I showed a 4 minute dvd; gave out brochures and urged people to give. By that method we have raised enough money for 300,000 Bibles to be distributed in public schools, and many other avenues over the last five years. I am now 77 years old; not travelling as much as I used to. Limiting my travels to about 8-10 trips, mainly missions trips to Africa (2 per year); one to Australia and not many more. Contributions have fallen off since I'm not out there speaking and handing out brochures for BFA.

There must be a change in strategy; Here's what I propose as my new plan of operation.
1. Area Fund Raisers: I will be contacting churches of the Tulsa area (and within 100 mile radius of Tulsa) to let me come show my pictures, make the appeal for BFA and give out brochures. You can let the Holy Spirit lead with what you do with the brochures. I'll be contacting churches; but would some of you "contact me"??? I'll come to your church and bless your people with an opportunity to put Bibles in the hands of people in Africa who will read them, become Christians and help evangelize Africa. Our largest single contribution has been $100,000.00. We've had one at $10,000.00, and several at the $1,000.00 level. One giver gives $500.00 per month to adopt a single school and see that Bibles are given to ALL students in that school in Venda, South africa. Are you one of those "generous givers"?
